BHP Billiton has hired the managing partner of leading Australian firm Freehills, the mining giant announced yesterday (10 October). Mike Ferraro will join the company as chief legal counsel on 14 January, 2008. He will be based in BHP's Melbourne headquarters. The move comes after the company announced in July that incumbent legal chief John Fast was retiring.
