Finance deals are complicated enough, but add digital currency to the equation and you need lawyers with investment know-how and technology smarts.

This week, we’re taking a closer look at one of those deals happening at the intersection of finance and technology.

What you’ll hear is The American Lawyer Editor in Chief Gina Passarella, who’s just published the magazine’s Dealmakers of the Year issue. She’s talking with Mitchell Rabinowitz, a partner at Crowell & Moring who orchestrated a deal spotlighted in the magazine. The transaction  involved 42 banks in 15 countries for his client, R3,  a company that runs a consortium of banks. The group of banks wanted a better way to handle transactions using digital currency—like bitcoin. Here’s how they did it.
