The Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas has reduced its backlog of cases awaiting trial by around 35 percent since Jan. 1, the administrative judge for civil cases said.

At the start of the year, there was a backlog of over 500 cases in which attorneys had filed praecipes indicating that they were ready for trial, but now there are only 321 cases awaiting trial on that list, Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Thomas M. Del Ricci told The Legal. There are 10,000 new civil cases filed a year, according to court administrative officials.
