It’s been a busy year for Winston & Strawn. The Chicago-based firm rode a wave of litigation to secure record profits in 2010 and a nearly 10% climb in profits per equity partner. Not only that, the firm spent much of early 2011 courting attorneys from floundering Howrey, and managed to bring in more than 40 lawyers and a new Houston office.

Leading the firm through that process was Chairman Dan Webb, who has been at the helm since 2006. He has spearheaded efforts to expand both domestically and internationally, with the addition of an office in Charlotte, N.C., that bolstered the firm’s financial services practice.
