Jones Day has hired a new corporate partner in its third Australian office, located in Brisbane.
Isaac West joins from Brisbane-based firm McCullough Robertson, where he was a partner advising on mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance transactions, especially for companies in the agribusiness and natural resources sectors. Last year, West advised government-run Queensland Investment Corp. on the acquisition of an 80 percent stake in the cattle company North Australian Pastoral Co.
West joined McCullough Robertson in 2006 after earning an LL.B. from the University of Queensland and became a partner at with the firm six years later when he was 29 years old.
Jones Day opened in Brisbane in February 2016 with the hire of former McCullough Robertson M&A partner Brett Heading. Earlier this year, the office also added energy partner Andrew Smith from domestic firm Clayton Utz, where Smith had been a partner for 22 years. The U.S. firm now has 12 lawyers in Brisbane.
In addition to Brisbane, Jones Day has Australian offices in Sydney and Perth.
