Simmons & Simmons has added corporate partner Michael Chin to its office in Hong Kong.
Chin joins from Hogan Lovells, where he was a partner based in Shanghai. A mergers and acquisitions specialist, Chin has advised on cross-border transactions related to China. In 2012, he represented U.K.-based biotechnology company Abcam plc. on a $170 million acquisition of San Francisco-based Chinese antibody research and production company Epitomics International Inc.
Chin joined Hogan Lovells in 2011 from Dorsey & Whitney’s Shanghai office, where he had been a partner for six years specializing in private-equity-related deals. He joined Dorsey as a partner from Jones Day in 2005.
Last year, Simmons lost China-focused M&A partner Alan Xu to Chinese firm Zhong Lun.
With the addition of Chin, Simmons & Simmons now has 20 partners in Hong Kong, according to its website.
