The Japanese firm Mori Hamada & Matsumoto’s Bangkok office has recruited a former DLA Piper partner.

Chatchai Inthasuwan, who until 2017 was a partner at DLA Piper and head of the firm’s litigation practice in Bangkok, will start at Mori Hamada’s Thailand arm, Chandler MHM Ltd., in January 2019 as a senior partner and lead the office’s disputes practice. He was most recently co-manager of the Thai boutique Thai Lawyers & Legal Counsellors Ltd., with his brother Olarn Inthasuwan.

Chatchai Inthasuwan focuses on cross-border litigation and regulatory matters covering a broad range of sectors, including banking and finance, insurance and telecommunications. He joined DLA Piper in 2005 from legacy New York firm Coudert Brothers’ Bangkok office with five other lawyers. He made partner in 2007.

Last month, Chandler MHM announced that longtime former Allen & Overy Bangkok corporate partner Arkrapol Pichedvanichok will join the firm in January 2019. Earlier this year, the firm recruited former Clifford Chance Bangkok finance partner Joseph Tisuthiwongse.

Chandler MHM was formed early last year from a merger between Mori Hamada, one of Japan’s largest law firms, and Bangkok-based Chandler & Thong-ek Law Offices. Chandler MHM has more than 60 lawyers.
