MinterEllison has hired corporate partner Shaun McRobert in Perth from King & Wood Mallesons.
McRobert specializes in cross-border mergers and acquisitions in the energy and resources sector. In 2016, he advised Beijing-based private equity firm Hony Capital on a $750 million sale of its 11.7 percent stake in Australian oil and gas producer Santos Ltd. to Chinese private gas distributor ENN Ecological Holdings.
Before joining King & Wood Mallesons in December 2013, he practiced at legacy Norton Rose for 14 years in Perth and Hong Kong.
McRobert will work with MinterEllison’s China team, which includes lawyers based in Australia as well as Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
“We are excited that Shaun is joining our team at a time of significant expansion of and growth in our China practice,” the firm’s Perth-based China practice leader, Adam Handley, said in a statement.
The chief representatives for the Beijing and Shanghai offices, Bi Chen and Christopher Carr, respectively, both joined in December 2016; Carr also joined MinterEllison from King & Wood Mallesons.
