The export control case against Chinese telecom giant ZTE Corp., already marked by highly unusual legal actions, has taken yet another strange twist. Call it the case of the dueling monitors.
On Wednesday U.S. District Judge Ed Kinkeade in Dallas reasserted his control over the case by extending the term of his hand-picked monitor, James Stanton, for two more years, and imposing new transparency requirements on ZTE.
