Dentons Rodyk & Davidson, the Singapore unit of global legal giant Dentons, has hired corporate partner Yi Jing Teo in the city-state.
The moves comes only a few weeks after Dentons Rodyk lost a team of four lawyers led by former senior partner Evelyn Ang to Atlas Asia Law Corp., Ernst & Young’s new Singapore law practice, the latest in a string of accounting firms branching out into local legal services.
Teo handles M&A and corporate finance transactions, especially initial public offerings in Singapore. In 2015, she represented United Overseas Bank Ltd. as a sponsor on Singaporean restaurant chain Jumbo Group Ltd.’s $30 million IPO, and the year before advised on a $158 million listing by Indonesian agricultural conglomerate Japfa Ltd.
Teo joins Dentons Rodyk from Hong Kong-based investment management firm Charles-Lim Capital Ltd., where she served as general counsel. Previously, she was partner at Singapore-based firms Rajah & Tann and Shook Lin & Bok.
Dentons Rodyk was formed two years ago after Dentons absorbed Singapore’s Rodyk & Davidson into its international network. That move, made in tandem with another combination in Australia, was merely one in a blizzard of deals that Dentons has put together around the world in recent years, including a landmark union with 4,000-lawyer Chinese firm Dacheng.
In late July, Dentons expanded again in Canada by bolting on the bulk of Toronto-based litigation and real estate boutique McLean & Kerr.
