Elie Kleiman, the head of the Paris office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, has joined Jones Day in the French capital.
Kleiman, who joined the U.S. firm as a partner in its global disputes practice, first started at Freshfields in 2000 and had led its Paris office since 2011.
He specializes in international commercial arbitration and civil law disputes.
“Elie brings us broad arbitration, litigation, and transactional experience across various jurisdictions and industry sectors,” said Greg Shumaker, who heads up Jones Day’s global disputes practice. “His decision to join us sends a very clear message that we remain committed to providing Jones Day clients access to the premier lawyers in Europe.”
Kleiman’s move comes after the U.S. firm hired Freshfield’s entire Paris real estate team in February 2017.
The four-lawyer team was led by partner Erwan Le Douce-Bercot, who joined Jones Day as its head of real estate in France, having held the same role at Freshfields.
In the same month, Freshfields hired a five-partner Paris private equity team from Ashurst.
Other recent moves in Paris include the hire of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom M&A heavyweight Olivier Diaz by Gide Loyrette Nouel last month.
