Linklaters is planning to form a dedicated Chinese law capability in mainland China, as the firm brings in Deloitte for a review of its global business services function and pushes ahead with the long-running review of its lockstep.

Partners approved plans to launch a “greenfield” Chinese law offering at the firm’s conference in Berlin earlier this month. Plans are in the early stages of development but are likely to see a group of around 10 Linklaters lawyers leave the firm to set up a separate Chinese law firm, with which Linklaters will then enter into a best friends relationship with.
