The addition comes as part of Ashurt’s growth strategy in the region, which also saw the firm hire Shearman’s Singapore office head and a Seoul-based partner last year.

Ashurst has bolstered its Singapore offering with the hire of a corporate partner from A&O Shearman.
Kok Jin Ong is set to join the firm’s corporate transactions practice and will be named partner following regulatory approval, Ashurst said. Ong leaves A&O Shearman after serving as counsel for eight months, before which he assumed the role at legacy Shearman & Sterling.
