Chinese law firms have continued to take senior lawyers from international firms, which have been scaling back in Greater China. The moves come as HSF, an Anglo-Australian firm, plans to merge with New York-based Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel.

Herbert Smith Freehills’ longtime energy lawyer Monica Sun is joining top Chinese law firm Fangda Partners in Beijing.
Sun is a partner at HSF and has worked at the firm for almost two decades. Her move follows the earlier departure of HSF energy counsel Jie Li, who has also joined Fangda as a Beijing partner in July.
