After so many years of internal initiatives, target-setting and industry conferences, women only make up about 1 in 5 equity partners at the largest law firms in the U.K., while only 1% of all partners are Black, and less than half of all lawyers attended state school.

The obvious conclusion is that law firms are just not trying very hard to fix the problem. There is undoubtedly some truth to the allegation that some firms make it appear that they care about diversity more than they actually do.
