Mayer Brown, pointing to the firm’s strong investments in lateral hiring, even during a “tough environment” that slowed M&A deals, saw roughly 5% declines in profits per equity partner and revenue per lawyer last year.

However, the firm also notched a 1% uptick in revenue in 2022, to about $1.86 billion, with the firm’s leader pointing to a “cycle agnostic” litigation practice and strong performances in real estate and finance. The top-line growth was on top of the firm’s 20% gain in revenue in 2021.
