The ability to offer corporate advice out of Tokyo will allow Withers to provide more investment-related advice and also cater to a wider spectrum of clients across Asia, Europe and the U.S., firm business division CEO Jeremy Wakeham said.

U.K.-based Withersworldwide has strengthened its corporate practice in Asia with the hire of veteran corporate partner Kazumitsu Goto from TMI Associates, one of Japan’s biggest law firms.
Goto, who joins on Oct. 4, is the first partner-level hire for the firm’s Tokyo office this year. He joins alongside associate Ryokei Abe from King & Wood Mallesons. With the pair’s arrival, Withers has launched a Tokyo-based corporate mergers and acquisitions team.
