Australia and the Netherlands have launched legal proceedings against the Russian Federation in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 in 2014 which killed 298 people.
The Russian Federation is responsible under international law for the downing of Flight MH17, Australia Foreign Affairs Minister Marise Payne and Attorney General Michaelia Cash said in a joint statement.
