Chilean elite law firm Carey has opened an office in Miami to cater to family offices, funds, entrepreneurs and venture capital investors as wealthy Chileans pour billions of U.S. dollars into the U.S. city that has become a hub for Latin American investments.
The office will be led by Carey partner Francisco Guzmán, who has been living in Miami since August. Guzmán, who is also president of the Chilean Venture Capital Association, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. He is not admitted to practice law in Florida but is admitted in New York, the firm said. But he will not be practicing Florida law, and it is not the firm’s plan to do so.
