Mayer Brown and CMS are among the latest firms in Germany to increase their newly qualified (NQ) lawyer salaries, as firms across Europe compete aggressively for junior talent.

From January 2022, Mayer Brown’s fledgling lawyers can expect an average salary increase of €20,000, for a total pay packet of between €110,000 and €130,000, depending on additional skills, while lawyers moved up to the “second level” will receive a salary of between €120,000 and €140,000.
