Royal Bank of Canada on Friday announced that it has revamped its leadership team, which includes the promotion of Maria Douvas to chief legal officer. Douvas most recently served as the bank’s general counsel and executive vice-president.
Since joining RBC in 2016, Douvas has served in a number of senior roles, including global head of Litigation and Employment Law and as U.S. general counsel. Prior to joining RBC, Douvas was a partner at Paul Hastings, and a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. She also previously practiced at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, as an associate, and Hughes Hubbard & Reed before that.
