Data lawyers across Europe considering the €746 million fine handed out by the Luxembourg data regulatory authority to Amazon in July say it represents a significant development in the European data regulatory market, as well as signalling this is a crucial area for law firms to invest resources into.
The Luxembourg National Commission for Data Protection fined Amazon Europe Core S.à r.l. after claiming that Amazon’s processing of personal data did not comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
