A group of Uber drivers is suing ride-hailing giant Uber in Federal Court in Australia in a landmark action to get drivers the same rights and working conditions as employees, including holiday pay and pension contributions.

Following a similar and successful case in the United Kingdom earlier this year, the action aims to have Uber drivers treated as employees rather and as contractors, said Harmers Workplace Lawyers, which is representing the drivers and the Rideshare Drivers Network.
