After 36 years at Stikeman Elliott, one of Canada’s pre-eminent business law firms, and most recently as the firms’ chairman, Marc Barbeau has packed his bags to go in-house to helm the 80-plus legal team at Air Canada.
While Barbeau said he knews 2021 would be a year of transition, as his term as Stikeman’s chairman was ending, he didn’t quite expect it to be a year of such dramatic change. He took up his new position as the airline’s chief legal officer and executive vice president on Canada Day, July 1, a few months shy of the end of his leadership term at Stikeman.
