At a time when Canada has been grappling with the way in which it has treated Indigenous peoples—especially children—the Canadian Bar Association today released a Truth and Reconciliation Toolkit aimed particularly at big law firms to help them attract and retain more Indigenous lawyers, articling students and administrative staff.
“I would like to see a legal profession that is reflective of the society around it, or that it serves,” said Brad Regehr, a member of the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation in Saskatchewan and the first Indigenous president of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA).
