Already billed by one intellectual property partner as the “battle of the caterpillars”, supermarket rivals Marks & Spencer and Aldi have locked into a legal dispute over the branding of their respective chocolate caterpillar cakes: Colin and Cuthbert. 

M&S confirmed on Thursday that it had filed a claim in the U.K. High Court, adding in a statement that it wanted to protect the “reputation for freshness, innovation and value” that came with its Colin brand.
