Australian law firm MinterEllison has appointed a senior lawyer to fill in as chief executive while the firm considers a permanent replacement for Annette Kimmitt, who is leaving in the wake of her email to staff apologizing for the firm acting for a senior politician accused of a historic rape.

“I am writing to let you know that we have mutually agreed with Annette Kimmitt, our chief executive officer and managing partner of the firm since 2018, that she will leave the firm on 10 March 2021,” firm chairman David O’Brien wrote in an email to staff Wednesday evening.
