Backed by a surge of restructuring matters during the pandemic and then an uptick in deal work in the last half of 2020, Weil Gotshal & Manges pushed gross revenue up by 9.2% to $1.657 billion, while profits per partner rose 12.1% to $4.5 million.

The firm saw an uptick in demand, billing more hours in 2020, even though Weil had fewer timekeepers when its Warsaw, Poland, office closed in 2019. While some expenses predictably declined, such as travel and business development, associate fall bonuses offset those savings, said executive partner Barry Wolf.
