K&L Gates has launched a Chinese trademarks agency in Beijing to bolster its global intellectual property practice.
K&L Gates IP Agency is located in the U.S. firm’s Beijing office and is led by locally based counsel Edward Yao. The new entity gives the firm direct access to IP prosecution work in China; it is now able to file applications, handle oppositions, revocations and renewals directly with the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), without having to engage a domestic third-party firm.
