I spend a lot of time with LGBT+ people (although, to coin a phrase, a lot of my best friends are straight). In that bubble it is all too easy to believe that there is a more general acceptance of the value of focussing in on LGBT+ people for one month out of 12.  But, as a lawyer, always seeking evidence to back up propositions, last year I thought I’d try and see what people really thought.

The results of my thoroughly unscientific survey were surprising (to me, at least): quite a lot of people really do seem to be a bit sick of the ‘gay thing’ and more still genuinely question the need for a month such as this, when ‘after all, we don’t have a straight equivalent.’
