The pandemic with its ever-changing parameters has been a challenge for businesses large and small. The legal industry has been no different. We have seen firms lose support staff as lawyers working from home do more themselves, furlough marketing staff and struggle to implement the new online ways of working.
But how have law firms reacted to this change? Decision-making in traditional partnership models can be painstakingly slow. By nature, lawyers are risk adverse but if we can’t be creative in our thinking then getting change signed off promptly is near impossible. Getting caught up in fee targets, WIP or specialism can make it hard to see the bigger picture or adapt swiftly.
