Cum-Ex Latest: Former US Law Firm Partner to Face Trial

A former Shearman & Sterling and Dewey & LeBoeuf partner is to face trial in Frankfurt for his alleged role in the ongoing ‘cum-ex’ tax fraud scandal.

Hanno Berger, a formerly high-profile tax lawyer in Germany, will stand trial alongside six others, facing allegations of aiding and abetting serious tax evasion, according to a court statement. The trial will be held in a regional German court, beginning on October 20.
