Paul Hastings U.K. corporate heavyweight Roger Barron has been appointed global vice chair of the U.S. firm's M&A practice.

Barron, a rainmaker in the firm's London M&A department, has advised on several multi-million dollar deals for Paul Hastings in recent months, including the £4 billion sale of U.K. defense and aerospace group Cobham to a subsidiary of U.S. private equity giant Advent International.

He joined the firm in 2018 from Linklaters, where he had been a partner for more than 17 years.

The firm has also appointed a new global M&A chair, Chicago-based partner Thaddeus Malik, who takes over from San Diego partner Carl Sanchez.

"Since joining Paul Hastings I've been hugely impressed by the quality and experience of our global M&A practice and have especially enjoyed working on a number of transatlantic deals," Barron commented in a statement.

"I'm delighted to be working with our new global M&A chair Thad Malik as we look to support our clients on their most challenging transactions, especially in this current period of uncertainty."

Barron's hire is one of a handful made by Paul Hastings in recent years to bolster its London corporate offering. He joined soon after DLA Piper private equity partner Anu Balasubramanian made the move to Paul Hastings in 2018, and last year the firm boosted its private equity team further with the hire of three partners from Hogan Lovells.
