Three years ago, we asked lawyers whether they thought their mental and physical health was being damaged by the long hours they work, and 82% of them said they did. Last week, our new research found that this figure has risen to 91%, with one in five partners stating long hours are causing them a great deal of harm.

With more than a third of respondents regularly working more than 60 hours a week, long days, working weekends and cancelled holidays have become the norm for many, and the impact this is having on lawyers’ mental health is significant, with 40% experiencing mental health issues to some extent.
