Former Linklaters financial regulatory partner joins BLP after Latham move falls through

Former Linklaters financial regulatory partner Daniel Csefalvay has joined Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) after a previously announced move to Latham & Watkins failed to materialise.

Csefalvay left Linklaters this February to join Latham’s London office, a move which was announced by the US firm in March.

Csefalvay left Linklaters��this February��to join Latham's London office, a move which was��<a href="http://www.legalweek.com/sites/legalweek/2017/03/09/latham-magic-circle-recruitment-continues-with-hire-of-linklaters-financial-regulatory-partner/">announced by the US firm in March.</a> At the time, Latham London head Jay Sadanandan described the hire as a "major milestone" for��the development of the firm's City financial regulatory practice. Both Linklaters and Latham declined to comment on why��this move subsequently fell through, and Csefalvay started work at BLP's London office this Monday (9 October). He��spent��nearly a decade at Linklaters,��making partner in 2015. Prior to joining the magic circle firm in 2008, he worked in the financial services enforcement division of the Australian Securities & Investment Commission and at Australian��firm Middletons, which has since merged with��K&L Gates. The hire of��Csefalvay comes after BLP strengthened its disputes practice last month with the addition of��<a href="http://www.legalweek.com/sites/legalweek/2017/09/11/berwin-leighton-paisner-seals-triple-disputes-hire-including-ex-freshfields-veteran/">three partners</a> across London and Singapore. The firm brought in former Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer Asia disputes head Richard Chalk and Vinson & Elkins arbitration partner George Burn in London, as well as Herbert Smith Freehills Thailand disputes head Gavin Margetson. Earlier this year the firm��completed <a href="http://www.legalweek.com/sites/legalweek/2017/05/05/berwin-leighton-paisner-to-revamp-litigation-practice-after-external-review/">a review of its global litigation and corporate risk practice</a>, and is aiming to��beef up its��City litigation capabilities��in areas such as��energy and natural resources, corporate crime, commercial litigation and employment disputes. BLP's financial regulation group is led by Nathan Willmott, who is also the firm's��managing partner for litigation and corporate risk. <
