Squire Sanders has sealed the hire of Addleshaw Goddard's head of structured finance, Mark Thomas, for its London office.
Thomas (pictured), who advises clients on structured loan products and loan portfolio sales and acquisitions, is the fifth partner in the last year to join Squire Sanders' global financial services practice.
Thomas joins fellow London partners Philippa Chadwick and Paula Laird – formerly of Berwin Leighton Paisner and Wragge & Co respectively – who moved to the firm in January.
Others to have recently joined Squire Sanders' financial services group include Miami partner Barbara Alonso, who moved from Greenberg Traurig in February this year, and Hisao Hirose, who switched to the firm's Tokyo office from Latham & Watkins last September.
In June, Squire Sanders' London corporate finance practice also hired former Addleshaws partner Matthew Doughty from Dorsey & Whitney.
Jim Barresi, global head of Squire Sanders' financial services practice group, said: "Mark's skills and experience are increasingly important to minimising the cost of capital in the wake of regulatory reform.
"His expertise complements our existing practice in asset-based lending and asset finance, capital markets and banking regulation and will expand our ability to provide in Europe some of the services we provide clients in the US."
Squire Sanders is currently in the process of selecting candidates for the firm's European managing partner role, as Peter Crossley's term draws to a close at the end of the year.
