Greenberg Traurig has hired high-profile Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft dealmaker Dennis Block to take up the newly-created post of senior chairman for global M&A, reports The Am Law Daily.

Block, 69, who joined Cadwalader in 1998 from Weil Gotshal & Manges, is considered a major Wall Street dealmaker. Significant transactions on which he has played a key role include advising pharma giant Pfizer on its $68bn (£43bn) takeover of Wyeth in 2009, while earlier this year he led a Cadwalader team advising power provider DPL on its $4.7bn (£2.9bn) acquisition by AES Corp.
