The Court of Appeal has handed down its judgment in the high-profile libel battle between science writer Dr Simon Singh and the British Chiropractic Association (BCA) in what will be viewed as a victory for free speech campaigners.

The judgment, handed down today (1 April), backed the appeal of Singh against a controversial High Court ruling from Mr Justice Eady that the BCA could proceed with its libel claim against Singh for an 2008 article that claimed the body “happily promotes bogus treatments”.
