The current line-up demonstrates that the UK is not short of lawyers who have not just learned to scrape by as part-time managers, but have excelled. It also underlines the extent to which management and leadership at major London firms has dramatically improved over the past five years.

Good examples are SJ Berwin’s Ralph Cohen, Konstantin Mettenheimer of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Simmons & Simmons’ Mark Dawkins, who have all established themselves as modernising forces at firms in need of change.
