Herbert Smith has hired senior European Commission (EC) officer Kyriakos Fountoukakos as a partner in its London office as the top 10 City firm bolsters its European Union and competition practice.
Fountoukakos joined the EC competition merger task force in 2001, and since 2004 has seconded to the Court of First Instance (CFI) where he is a senior legal secretary, known as a referendaire, in the cabinet of the CFI President. His principal role is to assist in the preparation for CFI hearings and write up judgments.
