US boutique Merchant & Gould has agreed to merge with 50-lawyer Chicago firm Welsh & Katz in a deal that will create an intellectual property specialist made up of 160 lawyers. The merger goes live on 1 January, 2006, and the firm will practise under the name Merchant Gould Welsh & Katz.
Merchant & Gould has offices in Minneapolis, Atlanta, Denver, Washington and Seattle.
