The Danish Parliament (the Folketinget) has recently adopted a Bill of Amendment to the Danish Act on prohibition against age discrimination in the workplace, specifically in relation to compulsory retirement.

The amendment gives rise to a number of considerations, such as whether an employer is entitled to change an invalid employment condition stipulating retirement before reaching the age of 65, without notice, to a condition stipulating retirement upon reaching that age. The amendment also has consequences for the rules laid down in the Danish Act on employment contracts.
