Leading Italian independent firm Tonucci has postponed its deadline to secure a merger with Milan-based practice Franzosi Dal Negro Pensato Setti until the end of the year as the two firms struggle to finalise one of the largest domestic tie-ups in the Italian legal market.

The two firms have already successfully completed due diligence and are currently attempting to finalise the exact set-up of the merger, which would see the 40-lawyer IP specialist Franzosi effectively taken over by the 200-lawyer Tonucci.
