Lovells and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer are lining up opposite each other to advise on a possible hostile bid by Sir Gerry Robinson to acquire Rentokil Initial.
Lovells has landed what could prove to be a highly lucrative role advising Robinson, who issued a statement on 22 August confirming that he was interested in acquiring the struggling pest-control company, while Freshfields is advising long-term client Rentokil, which has a market value of just under £3bn.
