The UK’s top law firms face an age discrimination ‘time bomb’, according to Legal Week research, which shows that the majority of London’s top 10 firms have a disproportionately low number of partners aged over 55.

Data collated on the UK legal elite found barely more than one in 20 London partners over the age of 55 at the top 10 City firms. The finding comes despite impending anti-discrimination laws that are expected to make it far harder for law firms to maintain the practice of ‘managing out’ partners.
