The Lord Chancellor, Lord Falconer, has announced that, for the first time ever, legal executives, patent agents and trademark attorneys will be able to apply to become judges, with current legislation to be amended as soon as parliamentary time allows.
Falconer also announced that eligibility will no longer be on the basis of the length of time a lawyer has had rights of audience but the number of years post-qualification legal experience.
