Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer looks set to install a firm-wide compulsory retirement age of 65 – finally bringing the UK practice in line with its German arm – after creating a panel to review the firm’s existing retirement and pensions policy.

The firm has set up a 12-partner working party, which includes German and UK senior partners Konstantin Mettenheimer and Anthony Salz, to examine the case for a unified retirement policy across the network as part of a review of its pension provision.
