Gibson Dunn & Crutcher has appointed the first German lawyer to its main executive committee, as the Los Angeles giant signals its European ambitions with the recruitment of a senior UK finance partner.

Munich partner Christoph Kuh-mann and Orange County partner Meryl Young joined the US firm’s 16-member executive committee in January, both taking up three-year terms. Kuhmann and Young replace Orange County-based employment partner William Claster and San Francisco competition partner Joel Sanders.
