Over the past two years, the ‘portal’ has burst onto the legal technology scene. Vendors, hoping that the portal will become the next ‘killer application’, have been locked into a battle for the virtual desktop.
However, while the technology has moved on, the key purpose of the portal has been lost. In this case study, we will look at the current state of portal applications, what they do and, importantly, do not do for the business, what the next steps must be for portal developers and finally, we take a brief look at Dundas & Wilson’s Hummingbird portal project.
