Baker & McKenzie is poised to elect its new chairman next month, with senior Chicago partner John Conroy emerging as favourite to succeed Christine Lagarde – the high-profile head who helped the global giant ditch the ‘McFirm’ tag.
Conroy, a US finance and projects specialist, currently sits on the 3,100-lawyer firm’s eight-member management committee, which acts as its main governance body.
